Shame: Army man tries to molest 17-year-old girl on-board train

Guwahati: An Army man put the nation to shame on Tuesday after he was alleged of sexual harassment.

The man tried to molest a 17-year-old girl on-board Dibrugarh-Delhi Rajdhani Express on Tuesday.

According to the NF Railway spokesperson, the girl accompanied by her uncle was travelling in three-tier AC compartment of the train.

Loud noises were heard from the compartment at around 4 am as she raised alarm when the army man tried to molest her while the train was near Chaparmukh station.

According to reports, the army man was recognized as Kulvinder Singh posted in Amingaon camp. He is recruited at the Military Engineering Service unit in the Indian Army.

The Railway Protection Force (RPG) immediately reached the spot and held him. The accused was further handed over to the Government Railway Police at Guwahati Railway Station.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 21-year-old Army soldier was arrested by the Neyyattinkara police on Sunday on charges of attempting to molest a 15-year-old girl on the road at Thavaravila near Neyyattinkara. According to police, Anu Joy, 21, son of Joy of Thavaravila, Neyyattinkara, was arrested on Sunday morning with the co-ordinated effort of Army officials. The incident related to the case occurred on April 21 last. “Anu Joy, who was here as part of the annual leave, tried to harass and molest the girl near Thavaravila, when she was on her way home afterattending class in the evening.

The case was registered on April 22, after we received intimation. However, during the legal procedure, the accused had left for Jammu and Kashmir were he was posted as a jawan, and joined back duty there,” the police said. Later, a letter regarding the case was forwarded to the officer in charge of theunit-290, where the accused was working, seeking his custody.

As a result, the Army officials took him under custodyand he was brought to the Pangode military camp here on Saturday.

“They brought him to the station on Sunday around 10.30 am and the arrest was registered around 11 am,’’ the police said. The case has been registered against the accused under IPC (Indian Penal Code) Section 354 (assault or criminal forceon woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and under provisions ofProtection of children from Sexual Offences Act.Later, he was produced before the court and remanded for 14 days.

Armyman held for molestation attempt

BANGALORE: An Army personnel was arrested by the police for allegedly attempting to molest a 21-year-old girl near Ejipura under Vivek Nagar police limits.

Police said that the victim, a native of Odisha, had come to the City a few years ago and was attending an air hostess training course.

On Wednesday, at around 5 pm, the victim along with her friend alighted from a bus near Ejipura. Durga Rao, 35, a Subedar at ASC Centre near Ejipura, who was standing near the bus stop, followed them and passed lewd comments. After some distance, Rao allegedly attempted to molest the girl. The victim resisted and raised an alarm, while her friend, clicked a few photographs of Rao, police said.

“Meantime, the public gathered and tried to assault Rao, but he freed himself and fled. The victim called her brother and told him about the incident. They approached the Vivek Nagar police station and lodged a complaint. The police visited the spot and enquired with a few shopkeepers and roadside vendors for information about Durga Rao,” the police said.

The police approached the officials at the ASC Centre and explained to them about the incident. The police were allowed to take the accused from the Centre, where he was hiding.

“The police have registered a case against him under Sections 354 (A) and 341. The accused is currently in judicial custody and further investigation is on,” the police said.

BSF jawan molests minor girl

A BSF jawan posted 49-BSF Camp, Koirengei molested a 14-year-old girl and later apologized to the girl for the shameful act.

The 'disgraceful' BSF jawan has been identified as one Constable Aso Das from Assam.

The incident happened at Koirengei at around 3.30 pm yesterday when the victim girl went to a shop to buy some potatoes.

The BSF jawan held her wrist and also touched her back in an indecent manner.

The women present there protested the jawan's act, but in turn he rebuked them using vulgar language.

The jawan again came out of the camp at around 8.30 am today to have pan in a shop.

The victim's family members nabbed him and began to thrash him.

However, he escaped and ran inside the camp.

A large number of women then stormed at the BSF Camp demanding the culprit to be handed over to the locals.

Later with the intervention of the BSF officials, Aso Das came out and apologized to the girl for the disgraceful act he had done to her.

The BSF officials also assured to the locals that strict action would be taken against the erring jawan.
