Landmine for militants injures girl

Baramulla: A teenage girl was injured Friday in a landmine explosion along the line of control (LoC) in the border town of Uri in this north Kashmir district.

15-year-old Shazia, daughter of Mohammad Shakoor of Nambla village of Uri received serious injuries this afternoon when she stepped over a landmine that was apparently laid by army at Chapargala post to stop militants from sneaking into the Valley, officials told Kashmir Reader Friday. The injured girl was grazing cattle when the landmine went off. She was removed to the hospital for treatment with injuries in one of her feet.

“The girl had accidentally stepped over a landmine that exploded and left her injured. Her condition is stable now,” Station House Officer (SHO) Uri, Bashir Ahmed, told Kashmir Reader.
